The “Formaneaux Sequence” is a project created by Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based composer, sound designer and healthcare provider podiatric physician Christopher Formanek, D.P.M. The music is derived from his unique creative style inspired by his desire to heal others…
A ‘self-taught’ musician who learned piano, guitar, bass and trumpet by age 14. He composes and performs ALL album musical tracks. He uses MIDI computerized digitized sounds, software he created and designed–approximately 400 custom sounds–through blending diverse sounds via 4 Roland VG processors for guitar in conjunction with Omnisphere MIDI Keyboard computer digitized sounds. This creates an ‘ethereal’ and ubiquitous-type sound evident throughout most of the recordings. He plays a Carvin, fretless jazz bass which suites his style and also you will hear occasional acoustic Blue ridge guitar sounds.
He employs fingerstyle techniques without picks or amplifiers. His style is best described as’ fusion–an amalgamation of many genres–influenced by the music of Incognito, Jamiroquai, Stevie Wonder, Pat Metheny and Alan Holdsworth; to Neal Schon (Journey), Steve Lukather (Toto), Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, George Benson, Earth, Wind and fire, Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac), Christopher Cross, Michael McDonald and the Eagles, Sting, Alan Parsons, Peter Gabriel, Elton John, The Goo Goo Dolls, John Serrie,; combined with early fingerstyle musical influences such as Tuck Andress, Pierre Bensusan, Michael Hedges, Alex De Grassi and Don Ross.
“Composing music is fascinating! You never know the path it will lead you. From its rudiments all the way to its completion, I’m always taken aback by the journey, emotions and deep places within the soul it takes me. I am always surprised where it ends which is often nothing like the original intention?” It is THIS journey I like to share with you.
